The end of summer is always an overwhelming time as I work long hours and prepare for upcoming fall events, all while trying to make the most of the season. Between fulfilling Pierogi Picnic orders, planning for the fall, managing work responsibilities and the overarching demands of life, I often feel like I’m on a rollercoaster ride too soon after drinking an over-sized milkshake.
That’s why when I stumbled upon this beautiful graphic by Joe Cavazo on Pinterest I was stopped in my tracks. The beautiful hymn, “It Is Well with My Soul” reflects on life’s struggles and the hope found in God. Penned by Horatio Spafford in the late 1800s, the song is timeless and inspiring beyond measure. Written after facing tragedy after tragedy, Spafford’s words resound with anyone facing difficulty in life.
If you don’t know the song or story that inspired it, read about it on Wikipedia here. The trials that sparked the hope-filled lyrics serves as a gentle reminder for me to keep things in perspective. No matter how nutty my life can become, as long as my gaze is fixed upon God, everything will be a-okay.
Last week many of those dear to me were faced with circumstances that brought upon them grief, sadness or fear. I dedicate this post to all the people I know and love who are going through trials and tribulations. I pray that you too can rest in the promise of these words and find peace, no matter what you’re currently facing.
