I may be a touch bit biased when it comes to the best Pierogi Picnic designs of 2013 – so I decided to let the numbers do the talking!

News: Custom Order Crunch

With the holidays quickly approaching I am drafting up a strategy for custom orders and gift-savvy turn-around times. In an effort to ensure that all made-to-order pieces are received by late December, Pierogi Picnic will be closing down this side of the site come December 1st.

So if there’s a dress or sweater you know will make the perfect gift for that special sustainably-minded someone – be sure to place your order between now and November 30th. After that custom orders won’t be activated again until January 1st.

If you miss the custom order deadline – fear not! We’ll be offering gift certificates all season long!

An Indie Biz: Made to Order

After taking a 30 day hiatus from making custom orders – the Pierogi Picnic one-woman sweatshop is back in action!

In late July I decided that I would make August the month for taking some time away from my machine. Not only did I want to make some room for enjoying all the sights and sounds of summer, I also needed to give my skin a break. So after several weeks of hanging back, I’m all healed up and ready to rock and roll again!

So if you’ve been pining for a made to order eco friendly hoodie for the fall or a handmade swimsuit for summer (thinking of you Australians!) now is the time! Take a peek at what designs are currently available here or in my Etsy shop. And here’s to bringing back tailor-made pieces!

The moment we’ve all been waiting for – the 2013 Pierogi Picnic swim line is here!

Building from classics like the Green Girl, Blossom and Beach Bum designs, these new vintage-inspired suits are made custom for the buyer out of repurposed t-shirt cotton, making them as eco-friendly as they are chic and comfy! Each suit is hand-cut for the unique shape of the customer and also includes a stretchy swim lining, which helps dry time as well as shaping. Continue reading →

Item of the Week: Hello Doily

I am absolutely loving on this new design! It combines many of my favorite elements in one simple and chic skirt. The soft upcycled cotton makes a perfect base for a flirty shape and hand-stenciled prints.

And for the gal who is obsessed with the peplum trend – but can’t find the confidence to sport the skin-tight pencil skirts they come on – this is the perfect solution! The a-line cut is flattering for many shapes, be it curvy or straight, and gives the wearer space to move.

Currently available made-to-order – this skirt will be debuting in a variety of shades as ready-to-wear in late September. So keep your eyes peeled to my Etsy shop.

Designs: Mix N Match Swim

My latest line of upcycled made-to-order swimwear is here – and the designs are better than ever!

The “Mix N Match” collection in my Etsy shop allows you to pair your favorite top with the perfect bottom. This gives you the option to choose the bikini combo that flatters your figure most. Everyone knows that a good fit and design is key to looking and feeling confident on the beach – which is why customization is key!

What’s the best combination for my figure? I am “top heavy” and prefer to minimize my bust. So my favorite pairing is the boy short bottom and the bandeau top. Sporty with just a bit of flirty – it’s my perfect combo as it lets me swim or lounge in the sun!

Item of the Week: Dear Darling

It will be in the eighties in Chi-town this week – and what better way to celebrate than with a flirty summer dress! The Dear Darling is one of my favorite pieces for the warm season as it combines breathable t-shirt cotton with a fitted waist and lace embellishment.

I love the gathered waist as it’s flattering on a variety of body shapes. The design is available in my Etsy shop in a variety of colors and can also be custom made to your specifications. I layer mine with a bandeau bra, petticoat slip and a pair of vintage sandals for a look that’s fun and fresh!
