Sale: Spring Cleaning Bonanza!

spring sale

It doesn’t feel like spring in Chicago quite yet – but despite what my weather app may say – the season is officially here! So to celebrate the beginning of longer days and soon-to-be warmer temps, I’m having a one-day-only Spring Cleaning Bonanza sale!

From now until midnight you can take 40% off any ready-made or vintage items in my Etsy shop by using the following coupon code during checkout: springbonanza03

Sound crazy? It is!

Whether you’ve had your heart set on a new design or a vintage find – now’s the perfect time to scoop things up! There won’t be another sale like this one for months and months to come – so go ahead – and take advantage of this great deal.

Item of the Week: Grunge Plunge

I’ve been noticing a lot more plaid in the Midwest than I’m used to these days. And I’m liking the trend! What seems to be a classic pattern in the Northwest – this cross hatch of colors is a staple to any American’s wardrobe  and it seems hotter than ever. Just this past weekend I enjoyed Vietnamese sandwiches with friends – and three of the six of ’em were wearing plaid!

So when deciding on the “Item of the Week” the choice seemed easy: the Grunge Plunge dress. What I refer to as a Pierogi Picnic classic, this adorable design fuses the charm of a vintage camisole with the rough and tumble tough of a men’s shirt, giving a softness to an otherwise beard and brawn look. It’s a piece I have been making now for over 3 years and the look of the opposing fabrics is something I never grow tired of! And seemingly – neither do you – as I continue to sell out of these dresses in shows season after season.

Item of the Week: Gradients of Grey

This adorable blazer was handmade using an upcycled grey sweatshirt. I slimmed down the seams, shortened and reshaped the sleeves and transformed the front to have an adjustable collar.

The reason why I love it is two fold: The fabric is incredibly soft and feels great against the skin. I also love it’s versatility! Leave it buttoned for a classic blazer shape, or undue both of the top ones for more of a cardigan feel.

This unique piece is currently discounted as part of this week’s “Moving Sale.” Take an additional 30% off at checkout with the coupon code “movingsale2012.”

Soulful Sister: Eco Gift Guide #2

This will be the second year in which my family will be cutting costs and consumerism by doing a secret santa exchange for the holidays. After decades of buying countless presents, it was just one year ago that we gave this new concept a spin – and it was so successful that we’ve decided to do it again!

In honor of living sustainably, both financially and ecologically, here is my second gift guide of the holiday season. The subject? A stylish sister who already has the world but needs a lil’ something to cheer her up. All of these gift guides have one thing in common: the artisans are all part of the Eco Etsy Street Team! Support these small businesses by shopping with them for the holidays.
