A Blog is Born!

I cannot express how thrilled I am to have the new Pierogi Picnic website and blog up and running! This official site was four months in the making – my very first endeavor into the world of htmls, hosting, and site creation! It took quite some time to decide how to organize the layout without compromising the spirit of Pierogi Picnic.

I really wanted to retain a bit of whimsy while incorporating a very simple and sleek flow to the content. It also had to be easily updated. Thus, I’ve decided to incorporate everything into what’s become a PP signature – the white washed upcycled picture frame. After selling at last year’s Renegade Craft Fair I decided to stick to this clean-cut design element. The gray background and white silhouettes also retain the same element as found in the back drops of photos on Etsy. I can’t tell you how happy I am with the way it turned out! Pierogi Picnic just celebrated its 2nd Year Anniversary and we’ve come a long way – but still have room to grow. My decision to incorporate a blog came from a need to share my journey.

“Throwing a Pierogi Picnic” will be my place to share the ups downs, ins outs, joys and frustrations of running my very own independent eco-friendly handmade biz (wow that’s a mouth full!). This will also become a sounding board as I concoct new designs and ways of showcasing my work. As the brand is evolving, I too hope to better my own walk, respecting all living things along the way. Similar in vain to Sprout Chicago, an eco-living blog I created two years ago with writer and activist Irena Djuric, “Throwing a Pierogi Picnic” will recount my daily attempts to live a more conscientious lifestyle.
